Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 July 2026
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern use of Answered, an AI phone-receptionist platform that answers inbound calls for UK small businesses. By creating an account, launching an agent, or using the Answered dashboard, the business ("you", "your") agrees to these Terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind that company.
2. The service
Answered provisions an AI voice agent that answers calls to a phone number associated with your business. The agent is configured from information you provide during onboarding (business facts, hours, services, booking rules) and, where you supply a website, information we extract from that website. The agent can answer caller questions, take bookings, take messages, and — where enabled — send secure payment links by text. The agent never asks callers to read out card numbers over the phone.
The service is provided on an inbound-call basis only, as described in section 4 below.
3. Subscriptions, trial, and billing
- New accounts start with a 14-day free trial. A valid card is required upfront to start the trial.
- We offer three plans: Starter (£99/month), Growth (£199/month), and Scale (£399/month). Each plan includes a monthly minute allowance and feature set as described on our pricing page at the time of signup.
- Unless cancelled before the trial ends, your card will be charged the price of your selected plan and billing will continue monthly until cancelled.
- You may cancel at any time from the dashboard or by contacting us; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we do not offer partial-month refunds except where required by law.
- Usage beyond your plan's minute allowance, or optional add-ons (extra phone numbers, additional locations), may be billed separately as described on your plan.
- We may change our prices with at least 30 days' notice to existing subscribers, effective from your next billing cycle.
4. Acceptable use — inbound only
Answered is built and licensed for inbound call handling only. You may use your agent and phone number to answer calls placed to you by your own customers and prospects. You may not use Answered, or any number or agent provisioned through it, to:
- Make outbound cold calls or unsolicited automated/AI-voice calls of any kind.
- Conduct telemarketing, robocalling, or any outbound calling campaign.
- Circumvent, or assist anyone in circumventing, the UK Telephone Preference Service (TPS), Ofcom's rules on automated and nuisance calls, or equivalent regulation in any jurisdiction.
- Use the service to harass, defraud, impersonate, or mislead any person.
- Attempt to extract card numbers or other sensitive payment data via voice.
- Interfere with, reverse-engineer, or overload the platform, including automated or scripted abuse of onboarding or API endpoints.
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that breaches any applicable telecoms, consumer-protection, or data-protection law.
Answered is not built or licensed to handle the compliance regime that applies to outbound calling (including UK TPS screening and Ofcom persistent-misuse rules). Outbound use of the platform is a material breach of these Terms and may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account, and reporting to relevant authorities where required.
5. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the facts, hours, prices, and policies you give your agent, and for reviewing and correcting your agent's knowledge and behaviour on an ongoing basis.
- You are responsible for having any consents or notices required to lawfully receive calls to the number provisioned for you, and for informing your own customers, where appropriate, that calls may be handled by an AI agent.
- You must keep your account credentials secure and notify us promptly of any suspected unauthorised use.
- You are responsible for complying with your own obligations as a data controller of your callers' data — see our Data Processing Agreement.
6. AI limitations — no guarantee of accuracy
Your agent generates responses using AI models based on the facts you provide. While we design the agent to answer only from the knowledge it has been given, AI-generated responses are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or appropriate in every case. You are responsible for reviewing your agent's knowledge base, testing its behaviour, and correcting any gaps or errors — including those surfaced to you in the dashboard as "knowledge gaps." We are not liable for losses arising from an inaccurate or inappropriate AI-generated response, to the extent permitted by law.
7. Availability
We aim to keep Answered available and responsive at all times, but we do not guarantee 100% uptime. The service depends on third-party infrastructure (including telephony, voice, and AI providers) outside our direct control, and may be unavailable during planned maintenance or unplanned outages. We will act reasonably to restore service promptly when an outage occurs.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Answered shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or loss of profits, revenue, business, or goodwill, arising from use of the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
9. Termination
You may cancel your subscription at any time as described in section 3. We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if you materially breach these Terms — in particular the acceptable-use restrictions in section 4 — if payment fails and is not resolved within a reasonable period, or if we reasonably believe continued service would create legal or security risk. On termination, we will retain and then delete your data in line with our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to the service or these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the service or legal requirements. We will notify existing subscribers of material changes by email before they take effect. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute arising from them or from use of the service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
